Joe Cocker, sadly passed away at age 70
It’s a sad day for me. In my childhood, my household wasn’t very musical. I was the black sheep who always ran around singing, playing with a rubber band and an empty tissue box. But when I did have music on in the house, it was from my brothers collection of records.
There wasn’t much in there I liked. My brother liked disco music. However, there were a couple of gems in there. Joe Cocker was one of them. I played that record when my brother wasn’t home. Being exceptionally careful not to break his record player or scratch the vinyl. So he never knew I did it. He probably did know, but I got away with it.
I always made sure I put it back the same way I found it. Right next to ABBA and Lulu. Yeah, my brother was weird.
However, my memories of being so excited to listen to that record, racing home from school so I could maximise the listening time between me arriving home and my brother getting home from work meant I could listen to the record over and over.
Thank you Joe.
