October. A favourite month of mine. It always brings back memories of Halloween while living in the United States as a kid. October is also a favourite month of mine because the weather begins to brighten up. Gone are the cold days between -6°C to 1°C and the sun starts shining. The blue sky seems to stretch forever. The weather is consistent, predictable and beautiful.
Playing music is much the same. The climate changes so often, however the difference being that it can be unpredictable. This is one of the main reasons I publish these gig guides. Not only do they help my friends and fans catch any one of my amazing bands I get to perform in, but they get to see, hear and dance to great live music with talented musicians.
What’s going on this October? Check it out.
6th October, I will be jumping off the bass and jumping on the guitar with Lynsey at The Settlers in Mulgoa for a lovely Midday gig. We’ll be in duo mode, and I will be accompanying Lynsey as she sings and plays piano to some great covers and original music.
11th October will be a fun evening where Kristen Lee Morris & the Dirty Snakes head back to Lazybones Lounge in Marrickville to open for the legendary Harry Brus. We will be there to warm up the crowd with our dirty swamp boogie. Doors open at 6PM.
Check out the jams, hangs and dirty sounds from the swamp.
Where to next? Right here! 12th October at Dry Ridge Estate, Megalong Valley in the shadow of the Blue Mountains. Rachael Brady & the Moonshine Special will be enjoying a beautiful, scenic and delicious part of our home land from 12:30pm till later in the mid-afternoon. We’ll also be hitting Rock the Clock Festival in Victoria, but more on that in a moment.
13th October, I’ll be back at Auntie Ed’s with Blake Dantier. Kicking up dirt with modern and classic cowboy hits. Slack off Sunday. Sit back with a beer and a burger in one of Katoomba’s vibiest venues or dance your pants off around 6PM onwards. Make a booking, because this place gets packed and sells out fast.
Rachael Brady & the Moonshine Special are back again at our home ground, the New Ivanhoe Hotel, Blackheath 6:30PM on Thursday the 17th October. Bring your dancing shoes because you’re gonna burn a hole in the rug!
Then I return to the New Ivanhoe the following evening on the 18th of October with John Stuart and his great line-up of musicians at the New Ivanhoe Hotel.
We just rehearsed this morning with the entire lineup and things are sounding really great.
