But it’s beginning to get noisy again.

There hasn’t been a lot going on in the entertainment industry, as you could imagine. Many artists have moved on to put their energy into other creations, other industries. Some have placed their careers on hiatus while others have moved on entirely, leaving what is a fickle industry where one minute you could be riding high, and the next minute you’re living on some sort of assistance to make ends meet. It tough enough, however this quiet time has been quite a significant couple of years, with plenty more to go in my opinion.

Tamworth Country Music Festival postponed until later in the year. Agnes Waters also postpones until next year. Many other festivals are following suit. However, while the government has imposed these restrictions on entertainment where it comes to the Arts, it seems there are areas of life where social gatherings aren’t all created equal.

If you’re into sports as your entertainment, great news! You can get it all you want. Stadiums full of fans can rejoice as they sit together and are safe from such decisions. Yet, while the Arts in Australia actually accounts for more than sport does when it comes to revenue, enriching culture, education and general well-being. It seems that Art as a whole has been entirely disposed of.

So, with that in mind, there have been many entertainers such as myself who have weathered the storm enough as it is. I am glad to see some live performances returning, but it has been challenging not only to continue making a living out of it, but hoping the bookings you have remain and aren’t cancelled or postponed. The income gets postponed, but the bills keep coming. No one is getting any special treatment here.

So next live gig in your area….. go see the band. Discover someone new. Buy their CD. In all honesty, if 5 people do that, at least one band member can actually buy some groceries. Some would say I’m begging you to do this. Well, begging would mean you get nothing in return. What you’ll get is good live music, merch and more.

When live music is back, see you there!
